Customer Satisfaction Survey

We really really want you to take this survey. If you are someone who comes shopping and thinks "man, i wish the co-op [insert comment here]", this is your chance to make yourself heard. Management is often overwhelmed at the day-to-day running of the store, and we sometimes don't have the chance to really analyze the store from a customer perspective. This is where you, Co-op shopper, come in. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey, it's really easy. And, when you finish, you'll be able to download a coupon that'll make you happy. So far we have 43 surveys filled out. We are shooting for 200. Help us achieve the goal, and help us be the best Co-op we can be. Thanks!

New and Improved File Downloads!

I know that it's been a huge pain to download the brochures featured on the Blog. Starting today, it'll be a whole lot less confusing. Now when you want to download a file, you just click on the link provided and the download will happen with a prompt right from the blog page: no more navigating MediaFire's confusing (free) file service, no more annoying ads popping up (sorry about that). We're in the big time now! We're paying for a monthly service to make it easier (and make it more likely for you to actually read these brochures on the Blog, rather than using more paper to print). We love you!

Eat the View: The White House Organic Garden Campaign!

Eat the View! is a campaign to urge the Obamas to replant a large organic Victory Garden on the First Lawn with the produce going to the White House kitchen and to local food pantries.

Shopping on a Budget at the Co-op

We been receiving a lot of questions and comments regarding the rising cost of food and how it's affecting pricing at the Co-op. While we have definitely experienced price increases in some areas (rice, oats, grains), we've also been reducing prices (organic dairy, for example) as we can. Our Basic Needs Program includes many, many items that we've priced well below what our standard retail mark-up should reflect (you can link to that brochure right off the blog), and we've just come out with a new brocure that offers you some other tips for how to stick to a budget while shopping at the Co-op. Click to download this new brochure! http://www.mediafire.com/?ytommnzdzty

Food Matters Conference, February 5-7

The Co-op will be helping to provide the best in local and organic produce for this UCSB conference, and our Education/Outreach Director will also be sitting on the highly anticipated roundtable on Friday, February 6th.

http://english.ucsb.edu/faculty/acarruth/food_conference/index.htm

"In response to current international conflicts over hunger, food prices, and genetically modified seeds, the matter of food has become central to both environmental and economic policymaking. In this context, the interdisciplinary field of food studies has a new purchase. This conference will gather some of the country's leading food scholars—many of whom are affiliated with the UC system—to examine the meaning of food sustainability in particular regional contexts from Africa to the Middle East to the Americas. The conference will provide a timely occasion for scholars from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences as well as activists and farmers to dialogue about the global food system in both contemporary and historical contexts."

February 5-7, 2009
UC Santa Barbara
Interdisciplinary Humanities Center, McCune Room
Program begins at 12:00 noon on February 5

All events free and open to the public unless otherwise indicated.

Our New New Hours Start Sunday!

Since we didn't get as much early morning traffic as we expected, and based on answers from our first Blog Poll "What Do You Think Of the Co-op's New Early Hours?" (thanks to those who took the poll!), we are now changing our hours to:

8am-11pm Everyday.

So, we're still opening early,
but we're also staying open later.
Just so you know.
